The Orutu instrument brings a distinct sound from Western Kenya, but is also to be found in various communities across East Africa. Traditional instruments are under threat of extinction, and so DJs and producer collectives are sampling these instruments in order to keep their culture alive through the clubs and dancehalls.

On their 2019 album Bengabelt: Tuongee Wakenya - released on INI Movement - our brothers in Kenya, Bengatronics teamed up with Luo Benga veteran Boaz Jagingo to record the mighty Kanonge!

We now are delighted to present our clubbed-up remix, keeping the spirit of the Orutu alive!
